| Apply for the Ohio Instructional Leadership Academy! May 21, 2013
The Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Education Association, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators and Race to the Top, is thrilled to announce the inception of the Ohio Instructional Leadership Academy (OILA). Made possible through generous funds from Ohio's Race to the Top grant, OILA will allow 150 Ohio building administrators and teacher leaders to receive leadership education while creating a collaborative culture within their school. The academy will provide the skills and knowledge a successful instructional leader needs to ensure the academic achievement of each student.For more information, visit ohioila.org
Updated Information Regarding Student Growth Measures from ODE May 21, 2013
The Ohio Department of Education has updated information
regarding student growth measures on their website. According to ODE:
| Student
growth measures (SGMs) are a method for determining how much academic
progress students are making by measuring growth between two points in time.
In essence, any assessmentavailable to educators will be considered
astudent growth measure when used to evaluate progress or growth,
provided the assessment is rigorous and comparable across classrooms

Call For Trade Show Exhibitors! April 5, 2013

OAESA is seeking exhibitors for the Trade Show featured at the 2013 Professional Conference. This is a chance to connect face-to-face with over 200 of Ohio's elementary school administrators. The trade show is June 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the beautiful Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Ohio. Conference attendees will be given ample opportunities and incentives to visit booths throughout the day, giving exhibitors maximum exposure to attendees. Exhibitors will receive a free buffet luncheon and a discounted rate at the resort (if booked by May 19) should they choose to stay overnight.

OAESA Staff and Board Members Attend NAESP Leaders Conference in D.C. February 27, 2013
This week, members of OAESA's Executive Board of Directors attended NAESP's National Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. While there, members called upon Congress to support and create new policies that strengthen professional development for principals, create early childhood programs that will allow every child access to early education as well as new policies that support high-quality leadership mentoring programs that sufficiently instill standards of performance in the principalship.
